The Eagles kept their all-time unbeaten streak against Houston Co. intact with a dominating performance in a 45-10 victory over the Bears. The Eagle offense did not punt all night while rushing for over 300 yards, and the defense kept the Bear offense out of the endzone with help from a Bobby Hines interception and a Darius Holmes blocked field goal on the way to their sixteenth straight win over the Bears.
Willie Jordan got the scoring going with 10:04 left in the first quarter when he rumbled in from 34 yards out after gathering in a shuttle pass from Glenn Smith. Isaac Rivera's PAT made the score 7-0. Three and half minutes later Jordan was in the endzone again after a 12 yard TD run. The Rivera point after ran the lead to 14-0. With 9:57 left in the second quarter, Arlie Weber caught a 20 yard TD pass from Marcus Ivory. Rivera's PAT made the score 21-0. With 6:35 left in the second, Glenn Smith scored on a 10 yard run; a minute later Smith burst through with a 65 yard TD run. Rivera was good on both PATs for a halftime score of 35-0.
Two minutes and 21 seconds into the third quarter, Smith scored again from 27 yards out. The PAT was again good for a 42-0 lead. The Bears kicked a field goal at the 7:15 mark of the third but Rivera answered with a 23 yard FG with 11 seconds left in the quarter for a 45-3 lead. With two minutes left in the game, Northside backups fumbled and the Bears scooped and scored from 15 yards for the final score of 45-10.
The Eagles hit the road next week as they travel to Grovetown.
