The Eagles defeated cross-county foe Veterans Friday night by the score of 42-0. The Northside defense held the Warhawks to 63 total yards of offense while senior Robert Jones added an interception to cap off a dominating effort by the Eagles in all phases of the game.
Willie Jordan score 4 touchdowns to lead the offense which scored twice in each of the first 3 quarters. The Eagle defense forces a 3 and out after the opening kickoff and Jordan was quickly into the endzone after a 20 yard run at the 9:50 mark of the first quarter. Isaac Rivera's PAT gave the Eagles the early 7-0 lead. Six minutes later, Jordan was in the endzone again after hauling in a short pass from senior quarterback Marcus Ivory and weaving his way in for the score. The Rivera PAT pushed the lead to 14-0.
With 10:15 left in the second quarter, Jordan scored again on a 4 yard run and then with 2:38 left before half, he ran for his third rushing touchdown of the night from 14 yards out. Rivera drilled both extra points for a 28-0 halftime lead.
At 8:52 of the third, Glenn Smith scored on a 33 yard run. John Tignor came on for the PAT to increase the lead to 35-0. Northside's final score of the night came with 6 seconds left in the third quarter when T.J. Anderson scored from 1 yard out. Rivera drilled the PAT for the final score of 42-0.
The Eagles face a short turn-around as they face their last non-region foe before the start of region play, the Westside Seminoles, on Thursday night at the MAC.
