The Eagles ran their overall record to 6-0 and 3-0 in the region with a convincing 45-7 victory over the visiting Lee Co. Trojans. Keshun Hill led Northside with 3 receiving touchdowns and another on a 72 yard punt return.
Hill got the Eagles on the board first at the 10:13 mark of the first quarter when he caught a short pass from senior QB Jack Montgomery and turned it into a 50 yard touchdown. Dillon Mixon’s PAT gave Northside a 7-0 lead. With 7:31 left in first, Montgomery ran in from 5 yards out for another touchdown and Mixon’s PAT made the score 14-0. At the 5:10 mark of the second quarter, Marte Polk streaked away from the Lee Co. defense on a 51 yard touchdown run; Mixon’s PAT made the score 21-0. With no time left on the first quarter clock, Lee Co got on the board with a 9 yard touchdown pass making the halftime score 21-7.
After forcing the Trojans to punt to start the second quarter, Hill caught the punt on his own 28 yard line and weaved his way through the Lee Co. coverage unit for a 72 yard punt return TD. Mixon’s PAT was again true for a 28-7 Northside lead. With 20 seconds left before halftime, Hill was in the endzone again from another Montgomery pass from 8 yards out. Mixon’s PAT pushed the Eagle lead to 35-7.
Mixon kicked a 20 yard FG with 8:12 left in the third quarter, but missed a longer attempt later in the period. Northside’s final score saw Hill in the endzone again via a touchdown pass – this time from sophomore Glenn Smith. Mixon’s PAT made the final score 45-7
Defensively, Devinci Sanders had an interception for the Eagles. Kemien Brown & Tim Walker forced a fumble each. Taz Thomas and Chris Crawford recovered the fumbles. The Eagles now hit the road for a huge region match up with Thomas County Central next Friday night in Thomasville.
