Game Recap
Halloween 2008 not only brought out the goons & goblins normally associated with the day but it also was the setting for the annual battle with the Demons from the south side of town. The Eagle offense struck early and the defense kept the Demons out of the end zone all night as Northside rolled to its 4th straight victory in the rivalry by a score of 14-0.
Northside’s senior running back Xavier Bacon returned the opening kickoff 59 yards to the Demon 36 yard line, and on the very first play, senior QB Joe Scott hooked up with fellow senior Eddie Aaron on a beautiful 36 yard touchdown pass to put the Eagles on the scoreboard with only 18 seconds off of the first quarter clock. Devon Pike drilled the PAT and the Eagles led 7-0. This would prove to be all the points that Northside would need as the defense posted the Eagles’ fourth shutout in the 44 year history of the rivalry. Junior safety Brison Williams led the defensive effort by recording 9 solo tackles plus 2 assists that included 1 sack and 1 tackle-for-loss. The Eagles put a cap on the perfect evening with a dominating 12 play / 80 yard drive at the end of the third quarter culminated by Bacon’s 4 yard TD run of the first play of the fourth period. On the 12 play drive, Bacon carried the ball 8 times for 57 yards and caught 2 passes for 15 more yards as he accounted for 72 of the 80 yards on the drive. Pike’s PAT at 11:54 of the 4th quarter made the final score 14-0.
The Eagles now travel to Moultrie, GA for their final regular season game against the Colquitt Co. Packers.
