The Eagles traveled to Douglas, Georgia to take on the unbeaten Coffee Trojans. Xavier Bacon led the Eagle offense with 136 yards rushing with 1 TD and returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and Brandon Brown had 2 interceptions for the Eagles.
After a scoreless first quarter, Northside’s Devon Pike opened the second quarter with a 39 yard field goal to put the Eagles in the lead by a score of 3-0. With 5:43 left before halftime, Coffee took the lead on a 61 yard reverse. The PAT made the score 7-3 and the score remained here until halftime.
The second half started with a bang when senior Xavier Bacon took the opening kickoff all the way back – 91 yards – for a touchdown. Pike’s PAT made the score 10-7 with 11:45 left in the third quarter. To open the fourth quarter, Bacon ran the ball in from 4 yards out and Pike’s PAT made the score 17-7 with 11:56 left in the game. The Trojans would not quit as the scored another TD with 3:34 left in the game on a 4 yard pass to close the score to 17-14. The Eagles took the ensuing kickoff and drove to the Coffee 25 and ran the clock down to 56 seconds before turning the ball over on downs to the Trojans. Coffee quickly connected on a pass that brought the ball to near midfield. After 3 incomplete passes, Coffee’s fourth down pass was intercepted by Brandon Brown to seal the victory for the Eagles.
