Game Recap
The Houston Co. Bears played host to the Eagles at the MAC for the 11th all-time meeting between the schools. Northside entered the game having never lost to the Bears in the previous 10 years, and they made sure that the record remained unblemished with a convincing 31-0 victory to run their unbeaten streak to 35 games.
In the first half, senior Xavier Bacon scored on runs of 11 and 2 yards respectively, and Joe Scott connected with Quinn Green on a 43 yard touchdown pass. Devon Pike made all three PAT attempts and also added a 23 yard field goal to give the Eagles a 24-0 halftime lead.
In the 2nd half, Brison Williams blocked a Bear punt and picked it up himself and ran it in from 15 yards out. Pike’s conversion ended the scoring on the night, as the Eagles freely substituted after that score. Senior Joe Scott enjoyed his best day as an Eagle quarterback by completing 10 of 18 pass attempts for 159 yards and 1 TD. The win sets up the big showdown next week with the defending AAAAA state champion – Lowndes Vikings.
