The Eagles stayed perfect in the region and in the season with a 49-21 victory over the Jones Co. Greyhounds.
Jurmon Weaver got Northside going early in the first when he took a pitch from QB Marcus Ivory and scampered 18 yards for a touchdown. Four minutes later, the Eagle defense got in the act when they forced a Jones Co. fumble near the goal line that was recoverd by senior defensive end A.J. Banks ford a touchdown. Isaac Rivera converted both point afters for a 14-0 lead. Jones Co. cut the lead in half with 46 seconds left in the first quarter on a 70 yard touchdown pass. With less than 3 minutes left before halftime, the Eagles scored twice more -- first on a 4 yard run by Willie Jordan and then on a 76 yard pass from Ivory to AJ Booker. Rivera's two PATs made the halftime score 28-7.
In the third, Jordan scored again from 6 yards out and Ivory connected with Glenn Smith on a 35 yard touchdown pass. Rivera converted the first point after and John Tignor hit the second for a 42-7 lead going into the fourth quarter. Against Eagle reserves, the Greyhounds score 2 more times in the fourth to cut the lead to 42-21 before the young Eagles scored themselves late in the game. Jamaal Joyner ran in from 12 yards out after Tanner Smith hit Dakota Davis with a 48 yard pass to set up the score. Tignor's PAT made the final score 49-21.
The Eagles hit the road toward Augusta again next Friday to take on Greenbrier.
