Game Recap
The Eagles kicked off their 2013 campaign by hosting the Flowery Branch Falcons in an important non-region game between 2 2012 playoff teams. Northside scored a TD in each quarter and shutout the Falcons until late in the fourth to cruise to a 28-6 victory.
With 2 seconds left in the first quarter, junior Willie Jordan scored from 2 yards out to give the Eagles their first points of 2013 and a lead they would never relinquish. Isaac Rivera drilled the PAT for a 7-0 lead heading into the second quarter.
At the 9:28 mark of the 2nd, Glenn Smith scored on a 38 yard touchdown run for an end to a explosive 3-play, 91 yard drive. Rivera's PAT made the score 14-0 where it would remain until halftime.
Ater an exchange of punts to start the third quarter, the Eagles' Bobby Hines stepped in front of a Falcon pass for an interception and returned the ball to near midfield. Five plays later, Smith scored again from 12 yards out and Rivera's PAT gave Northside a 21-0 lead with 5:03 left in the third.
Senior QB Marcus Ivory connected with Jurmon Weaver for a 24 yard touchdown pass with 7:27 left in the game to push the Eagle lead to 28-0 after Rivera's point after. Flowery Branch finally scored 2 minutes later, but their point after was block by senior Darius Holmes for the final score of 28-6.
The game marked the kickoff to a season long celebration of Northside's 50th Anniversary. Pregame ceremonies included introduction of past principals and head coaches along with special presentations to the first head coach Mr. Matt Arthur and his first staff and some of the players from that first Eagle team.
