The Eagles traveled to Bibb County to renew an old rivalry with the Westside Seminoles. Northside withstood an impressive aerial assault from the Seminoles to defeat them by a score of 42-18.
Curtis Martin got the Eagles on the board with 9:39 left in the first quarter with a 30 yard touchdown run. Isaac Rivera’s PAT gave Northside an early 7-0 lead. A little over a minute later, Keshun Hill bolted 42 yards for another touchdown and Rivera’s kick made the score 14-0. Westside cut into the Eagle lead with a 9 yard run with a minute left in the first quarter. The kick failed leaving the score at 14-6. Northside answered back with a 11 yard TD reception by Justin Bernam from Glenn Smith at the 9:54 mark of the second quarter. Rivera’s PAT pushed the lead up to 21-6. Two and a half minutes later, Westside scored on a 28 yard pass play to cut the lead to 21-12 after another failed kick. The Eagles again answered by the end of the half with their own TD pass when Smith hooked up with Charlton Lane on a beautiful 17 yard throw and catch. The Rivera kick made the halftime score 28-12 in favor of the Eagles.
With 5 minutes gone in the third, Martin scored his second rushing touchdown of the night – this time on an 11 yard run. The PAT by Rivera made the score 35-12. Donte Bryant finished the Eagle scoring on the night with 1:44 left in the third quarter when he scored on a 12 yard run. Rivera’s final PAT made the score 42-12. Westside scored a late touchdown in the fourth for a final score of 42-18.
The 3-0 Eagles are off next weekend before traveling to Augusta to take on Lakeside in the first region contest of the 2012 campaign.
