The Eagles were denied their 4th straight victory over their crosstown rivals, the Warner Robins Demons in front of a very large crowd tonight. Warner Robins won the coin toss and elected to defer to the 2nd half. The Eagles chose to receive the opening kickoff. After getting 3 first downs, the Eagles would suffer from the first of many turnovers on a deep interception. The Demons marched down the field and kicked a 41 yard field goal as time expired in the first quarter.
After swapping punts, the Eagles had another interception. However, the Demons would fumble the ball back to the boys in blue but the Eagles were not able to capitalize and punted back to the Demons. Warner Robins still had the ball when the halftime buzzer sounded and led the Eagles by the score of 3-0 at intermission.
The Demons received the 2nd half kickoff and were forced to punt once again. The Eagles did score on this possession as Sean Mayo kicked a 28 yard field goal to tie the score at 3 all with 4 minutes left in the 3rd stanza. The Eagle defense held once more and forced a punt to put the ball back in the hands of the offense with an opportunity to take the lead. Is was not to be however as another interception gave the ball back to the Demons again. The tough Northside defense stiffened and held once more and forced a Demon punt with less than 4 minutes left in the game. The punt was fumbled and the Demons recovered at the 14 yard line and they were indeed in business. Demon QB Mark Wright scored the winning touchdown with 2:09 left in regulation. The Eagles tried to march downfield and tie the game, but the effort fell short on a failed 4th down pass and the victory was sealed for the Demons.
