The annnual rivalry match between the Northside Eagles and the Houston Co Bears lived up to it's usual intensity tonight. The Eagles received the first kickoff and gained 2 first downs before facing their first 4th down of the night, forcing a punt. The Eagle defense held steadily and forced a punt from the Bears without allowing a first down. The Eagles scored on their next possession as Mike Tye scampered 34 yards with Sean "Boomer" Mayo adding the extra point. After swapping punts, the Bears got on the scoreboard as Ronnie Hiley scored on a 16 yard run. Taylor Jones added the extra point to tie the game at 7. On a bizzare possesion by the Eagles just seconds before the first half ended, "Boomer" Mayo kicked a 42 yard field goal to put Northside up for good 10-7. with just 4.7 seconds left and no timeouts available.
The second half belonged to the visiting Eagles as they scored 17 unanswered points to seal the victory 27-7. David Everitt added a 30 yard TD run, "Boomer" added a 45 yard field goal and Mike Tye scored his 2nd TD of the night on a 5 yard run. "Boomer" also was 6 for 6 in kicking off into the end zone. He is 28-30 on the year in that category.
The Eagles get back into sub-region play next week as they host the Hardaway Hawks.
